UPOU admission

August 3, 2010 I received an official confirmation letter from University of the Philippines Open University. It states below:

Dear Applicant:

This is in reference to your application for admission to the undergraduate program of the UP Open University for the Second Semester 2010-2011.

One of the requirements for admission is passing the Distance Education Readiness Test. The said exam is scheduled on 14 August 2010 from 9:00am to 12nn at the UPOU LC in UPCC. You need to be at the testing venue at least 30 minutes before the exam. Don't forget to bring your valid ID and pencils. Cellular phones will be off during the entire duration of the exam.

In case you still have deficiencies, please submit them to the Office of the University Registrar or at your Testing Center on the day of the exam so as not to delay the processing of your application. The list of admitted students will be posted at www.upou.edu.ph in October. Application result will also be sent through mail.

You may also give us a call at (6349) 536-6001 local 199 if you still have questions.

Very truly yours,

(sgd) RICARDO T. BAGARINAO

University Registrar

A dream come true actually, I thought in exchange to my successful career is a quality education that I will never have again. Thanks to UP Open University, they gave me a chance to prove myself worthy to be UPian once again. I will never fully get what I have now if I did not come from UP, successful career, nationalistic ideals and strong principles I would say. I just feel so blessed, I want to set an example to everyone that it's indeed possible to achieve a quality education, you just need to want it, want it badly!

University of the Philippines Open University offers the following programs: Undergraduate, Post Baccalaureate and Non-Formal Courses. All programs are conducted though Distance Education Learning Mode, meaning work and study at the same time in your own convenience.

They only have 2 undergraduate programs though: Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies.

At the heights of my career now, I do not need to be choosy on what degree to take, as long as I have a degree, a stepping stone opportunity to proceed higher education like Master, Diploma, Doctoral or perhaps specialising in Project Management.

If you are a high school graduate or undergraduate who dream of getting a degree, you may enroll first Associate in Arts then proceed in Multimedia Studies. Prior to that, you need to pass DERT (Distance Education Readiness Test) and UgAT. But if you have taken UPCAT in the previous, there's no need to take UgAT. Good opportunity for former UPians like ME!

Note: you need not to have high grades to qualify.

See you around!
